Embracing Simplicity

This blog is about getting the most value for the least through embracing simplicity. It's not a minimalist blog, nor a healthy eating blog, I would venture to say that it is not even a budgeting blog however it does contain elements of these.

Why write it?

I love to explore and attain. When it comes to the satisfaction of attainment this compulsion leads to spending more of my disposable income at restaurants and at stores than I am comfortable with spending.

This blog is a way to come up with an alternative to that, to spend more time outdoors, to make filling and enjoyable meals at home, to be able to be satisfied with myself at the end of the day without having to run to more superficial (and financially draining) means of fulfillment.

Many of the things that are written here are simply ones I would like to incorporate more into my life, but also things I have done in the past that work.

Eat Good

Eating good in the sense of having abundance, like "We're eating good," or "Good Eats." Not necessarily healthy eating oriented.

Although there are some universal truths to eating healthily such as avoiding the inner aisles at a grocery store, eating foods that are close to their natural form, cutting down on processed foods...etc.

Many of the recipes featured by virtue of being budget oriented tend to fall under these universal guidelines for what makes a meal healthier than others.

Eating like this most of the time makes going out to eat that much more enjoyable.
There's something extensively satisfying about finding new restaurants as well as delving into the comforts of ones rotation of favorites, so eating at home more often with whats on hand makes those moments more enjoyable when they do occur.

Live Simple

Point Lobos in Carmel, Monterey. Your doing well if your only operating cost is gas.
There are things you can do in general to live a satisfactory life without having to spend a whole lot.

Live simple is an analysis of those things, in an effort to find things to do and ways to do them. Often-times the things that are the most rewarding, as well as the things that are most beneficial to ones well-being are elemental in nature.

Going outside more.

While there are expensive hobbies and pursuits, it is worth exploring those pursuits whose admission is very inexpensive (or even paid through your tax dollars). There are a multitude of outdoor activities that one can enjoy.

People know they need to walk around more, spend more time outdoors, exercise more...etc. Why not? It saves money and can keep a person more robust. win-win

Doing more with less and learning to use what you have

Sometimes the most cost effective solutions are also the ones that happen to be the most sustainable. Using what one already has or can find inexpensively second hand without having to buy new things often can go a long way.

Being efficient with what is on hand and in doing things constructively can be quite wholesome

That's the idea anyway, living simple means being resourceful in order to achieve a high quality of experiences.

More?
Within the framework of these two concepts, there is an ample amount of breathing room to venture out into new territory. As this is a work in progress, expect this page to be updated every so often.
